Who Qualifies for Bariatric & Metabolic Surgery

You may qualify for surgery if you have:

BMI ≥ 35, with or without comorbidities
BMI 30–34.9 with metabolic
disease (diabetes, hypertension, fatty liver, PCOS, sleep apnea, insulin resistance)
Prior bariatric surgery with weight regain or complications
No upper age limit if medically fit
Adolescents with severe obesity after multidisciplinary evaluation
Additional considerations for safe care include long-term follow-up, medical optimization, smoking cessation, psychological readiness, and nutrition evaluation.
