This study published in the World Journal of Diabetes examined whether ethnicity influences weight loss outcomes among adolescents in the first year following bariatric surgery, using data from the Bariatric Outcomes Longitudinal Database (BOLD). The study compared 1-year percent excess weight loss and BMI reduction across major racial and ethnic groups among adolescents who underwent gastric bypass, gastric banding, or sleeve gastrectomy.
